Your carrier may let you unlock your BlackBerry and they may not depending on the contract terms. For example T-Mobile only allows customers with 90 days or above left on their plan to do it.

That is all well and good but many of us that didn’t plan well enough get stuck with a useless phone.

CellUnlock is simple piece of software that allows you to unlock your BlackBerry without having to consult big brother. Here’s how it works:

Once you run the App, it will read your phone’s 15 Digit IMEI & Model. All you have to do is enter the Country/Provider your Blackberry is from and submit. Your order will be processed by one of our members and the unlock code and instructions will be emailed to you.

The process seems to work like auto-magic but in reality there is someone working behind the scenes checking data and producing codes. If you have any problems along the way, the tech staff will walk you through it.

CellUnlock one third of the price compared with similar services like The Phone Unlockers or GSM Phone Source. We’d all like the download for free but at $9.99 it’s hard to complain.

In way it’s surprising it took the e-retailer this long to start offering smartphones bundled with plans.

At the time of this writing Amazon Wireless is offering 101 phones with a service contract from your choice of AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon Wireless. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 tops the list of bestselling phones. With a plan from AT&T it is going for one cent (not sure why they didn’t just make it free). Every phone has quick two-day shipping.

Now that all the big box stores are in the business of pushing Blackberrys and plans too, at first I wondered if Amazon really needs to be in this space. What can they possibly bring to the table that everyone else hasn’t already done first?

Amazon Wireless wins you over by how easy they make it to shop. The filter options at the left side of the site allow you to select everything from carrier, feature, price (penny phones included), colour and brand. Each offering has a growing amount of user reviews that Amazon is famous for so you can get past the marketing hype offered by the manufacturer and get straight to the perspective of people like yourself.

If you haven’t already, stop by Amazon Wireless to view the Blackberry phones they are offering for a penny.

It now has a trackpad! In addition, the keypad has been upgraded to condensed qwerty style. The 3G connects to wireless networks with the “N” standard.

So is this a big enough upgrade to interest current Blackberry Pearl users? Get an overview of the technology here as a few mobileoholics mess around with some of the new features. The hosts start to meander around halfway through the video as this was filmed very casually.

Introduction and an overview

It is a new range of blackberry phones called the blackberry tour. In India it is being launched by the reliance mobile and RIM shortly. The entire range has been designed for tech-savvy customers. Its black color and the highlighted chrome finish are sufficient to please the customers. It is 112mm in length, 62mm in width and 14.2mm in depth. It weighs about 130g.the screen has a resolution display of 480X360 and measures about 2.44 inches. It is a non touch screen phone that is graced with a QWERTY keyboard. The hardware of blackberry tour is very solid

Features

The phone comes with an inbuilt camera of 3.2 megapixels that has a video recorder, flash, extensive zooming and auto focusing properties. It also supports audio and video streaming through the HTML web browser. It has a built in GPS.The media player incorporated in this phone is much advanced so as to support videos and pictures. It has a 3.5 mm headset jack. The phone memory can be expanded up to 32GB.the Tour is a bit heavier but less expensive than the other advanced models of blackberry. The phone has a toggle button for controlling volume on the left side, on right side of it the headset jack is situated along with camera launching and locking key. The micro USB charging port is also situated on the right side. The tour has a better keyboard than the other smart phones as typing on tour is much faster. This is because the keys are somewhat separated.Multi tasking on tour is very easy, that is, you can listen to music while checking e-mails or messages. It is a bar phone without any slider or a flap. The maximum retailing price of the phone is around $199.00.it has a built in Bluetooth capability navigator with automotive unit navigator it is the most reliable cell phone created for the professional users.

Pros and cons

The design itself is so attractive and sturdy that it actually adds a lot of glamour to the phone. The typing on the keyboard is very comfortable and you don’t have to stress upon the keys much. The 65k color led display is very sharp and vibrant. The camera is efficient and has good picture quality. The only demerits of the phone are that it does not support the Wi-Fi connection and also its video recorder is not that effective. High end messaging and a wide range of multi-media features make it technologically unique.

Reviews and comments

Some people find the phone well worthy of investment because it offers them a comfortable keyboard, connectivity, quick processing and sharp screen display. The camera performance is good but the video recording is extremely bad as it can not shoot the fast moving scenes properly. The phone comes with an inbuilt memory of 256 MB along with a 4GBmemory card but the only problem with the phone is that the program that it supports can only be downloaded on the onboard memory card.

The blackberry curve features a full qwerty keyboard, WiFI, GPS, high resolution display, and camera. The phone boasts excellent battery life and is very fast. “The tactile feedback of the blackberry keyboard is where it wins out over the iPhone”, said Michael DeLorenzi, CEO of Waterloo-based Inspiratica Web Services. “The [Blackberry] Curve is the perfect size; small enough for your pocket, yet not so small that it becomes difficult to use.”

Yes, that’s right; an all-you-can-eat (download) plan from T-Mobile for a once-a-year fee. For £179.99 you get a BlackBerry pearl 8110 handset and one year’s worth of data and e-mail. There is apparently a 1-Gigabyte cap on the data per month, however T-Mobile claims you won’t be charged for going over this limit. At the end of your one year of unlimited BlackBerry data, you are able to renew the service again (at a currently undetermined price). If you want to be able to use the phone feature, text (SMS) and picture messaging you will be charged on a pay-as-you-go basis with T-Mobile’s Talk and Text tariff. The most exciting aspect of this announcement from T-Mobile’s perspective is probably that you can now buy someone a blackberry with service as a gift. This could get very popular, VERY fast. The unlimited plan will be available as of May 1st 2009.

No matter how many times your fingers dance on the screen like you’ve been trained on every other touchscreen, nothing will happen. At least, not until you push the screen all the way down and you feel a click. Yes, the screen is a giant button, one you have to punch for basically every action, even every letter you type, completely breaking the touchscreen paradigm. Surprisingly, it works.

With a whirlwind marketing campaign behind it, the RIM BlackBerry Storm 9530 for Verizon has been a highly anticipated smartphone. Why? This is the first touch screen BlackBerry. Gone is the hardware QWERTY keyboard synonymous with the ‘Berry. Instead we have an on-screen keyboard– actually two: 1) a standard QWERTY in landscape mode and 2) 20 key SureType in portrait mode. Who’d have thought even RIM would jump on the touch screen bandwagon gone rampant since the launch of the first iPhone?

And RIM has done something different here: this isn’t the resistive touch screen usually found on Windows Mobile devices, nor is it the “simple” capacitive display found on the iPhone and a few other phones. The Storm’s huge touch screen display is capacitive but it’s a screen made of floating layers, and the screen actually moves downward when you press it, giving a tactile click. Thus the whole screen moves just a hair, and clicks like a key on a standard BlackBerry. Funky. RIM calls this “SurePress”. This changes the way, or rather ways we interact with touch screens. The light to moderate touch works with the capacitive layer (it reacts to the electrical resistance in your skin, so a stylus won’t work). You’ll use this to scroll a web page, document or palette of icons. To select a web link, menu item, icon or keyboard key, you must press down until the display moves and clicks. Very funky… but kinda cool. It’s one of those things you’re either going to love or hate.

Those of us in the US have impatiently waited for the BlackBerry Bold to arrive on AT&T. Released a few months earlier in various overseas markets, the AT&T-branded version, tuned for AT&T’s 3G network, is finally here. What’s so special about the Bold? It’s the first BlackBerry with 3G HSDPA and a widescreen 480 x 320 display (same resolution as the iPhone, but the display is smaller). The Bold has both WiFi and a GPS, a rare treat given that RIM usually includes one or the other in their phones, but rarely both.

Indeed the Bold’s 2.6″ 65,000 color display looks absolutely fantastic: it’s sharp, bright, colorful and one of the nicest we’ve seen. It manages to look great outdoors in sunlight too, an easier feat for a non-touchscreen phone but we appreciate it nonetheless. Photos and videos look wonderful and text is sharp and easy to read, even at small font sizes.

This is a fast ‘Berry thanks to its 624MHz CPU, and there’s nearly a gig of storage built in. We rarely encountered slow-downs, and the phone was very stable– impressive given that this is the first release of the 4.6 OS on AT&T.

Display

Half VGA resolution 480 x 320 pixel color display

Transmissive TFT LCD

Font size (user selectable)
